Passchendaele and La Passion d'Augustine to be Featured at Rideau Hall Movie Nights
OTTAWA, July 28, 2015 /CNW/ - The Office of the Secretary to the Governor General announced today that two Canadian feature films, Passchendaele and La Passion d'Augustine, will be shown August 21 and 22, 2015, as part of the second annual Rideau Hall Movie Nights. The films are being presented free of charge courtesy of distributor Entertainment One (eOne)/Les Films Séville.
On August 21, Passchendaele will be shown in English. Written and directed by Paul Gross, this World War I epic, inspired by his grandfather, tells the story of a Canadian soldier during the Third Battle of Ypres. The film won several Genie awards including Best Picture. In 2009, Mr. Gross received the Pierre Berton award for his work on the film. That same year, he was awarded the Governor General's Performing Arts Award.
On August 22, La Passion d'Augustine will be shown in French. Winner of several accolades, this beautifully crafted film directed by Léa Pool takes the viewer on a musical journey through a colorful story of a small convent school in Richelieu, Quebec.
The films were selected by the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General in consultation with Canadian film industry partners, in order to best showcase Canadian feature films in Canada's Capital Region.
Both films will be shown with subtitles. The rain date for this event is scheduled for August 23. More details about the event will be announced at a later date.
