311 inmates in the U.S. have been exonerated -- 30% were convicted based on a false confession

SAN FRANCISCO, March 24, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- What would make anyone confess to a crime they didn't commit? After years of research and reporting Life of the Law a national podcast produced by a team of investigative reporters and scholars answers the puzzling question with the story of Max Soffar.

At the age of 24 Soffar was arrested on a stolen motorcycle after a homicide at a Houston bowling alley. After three intense days of interrogation by officers using a controversial interrogation method Soffar confessed to the murders. He was convicted and sentenced to death. Now thirty years later Soffar is struggling with end-stage liver cancer and facing execution on death row for a crime he says he never committed.

"I never thought it would go this far. I never thought they'd try me for something I didn't do." -- Max Soffar
