"TNMNews takes a deep dive beyond the headlines to explore breaking cannabis news with network-news-quality field segments and roundtables," explained Bruce Kelly, TNMNews host.
"It's no longer a game of 'for' or 'against' marijuana in this country," he continued. "Now there are so many different perceptions and applications that are much more complex. We are here to educate and inform Americans so they can accurately decide for themselves."
Kelly is a legend in the industry, having created and developed a number of radio platforms, including the launch of XM Radio.
"We didn't need to look very far when we searched for program content--it's everywhere," said Martin Wagmaister, executive producer of TNMNews. "The problem we had to overcome was that the content was all extremely biased -- either for or against marijuana legalization."
"We felt it was imperative to create a news product that presented both sides of the issues to educate the public about a topic that is increasingly impacting politics, economics, and the social mindset of this country."
Wagmaister, the driving force behind the project, has produced the Rick Dees In the Morning, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, and The Coca Cola Open Happiness Mix Show with Radio Express Inc. His team is also developing national radio and television segments for syndication.
In the first few weeks TNMNews audiences will hear the perspectives of cannabis personalities who represent a multitude of diverse viewpoints:
-- U.S. Representative Dr. Andy Harris (US Congressman)
-- Dr. Lester Grinspoon (Harvard Medical School, Author)
-- Junior Marvin (Bob Marley and The Wailers)
-- Mary Lynn Mathre (American Cannabis Nurses Association)
-- Ray Mirzabegian (Realm Of Caring, Los Angeles)
-- Meiko and Joey Perez (UF4A.org)
-- Amanda Reiman (Drug Policy Alliance)
-- Martin Lee (Project CBD)
-- Diane Goldstein (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition)
-- Greta Carter (Cannabis Training institute)
-- Zoe Russell (Republicans Against Marijuana Prohibition)
One of this generation's most accomplished radio personalities, Bruce Kelly has ruled the airwaves in Washington, DC, Boston, Miami, Phoenix, and XM Satellite Radio. Known for his raw exchanges of emotions, Kelly has interviewed some of the most celebrated people in our society, from the Beatles to US Presidents. He is often quoted in The Washington Post, The Arizona Republic, USA Today, Sports Illustrated, ABC's Nightline, and CBS's 60 Minutes as an expert in on-air talent, media relations, and program development, and he is the two-time recipient of the Billboard Magazine Air Personality of The Year award.
