Cox Charities 2013 Grant Cycle Now Open

Deadline for Submission is November 8

CHESAPEAKE, Va., Oct. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications Virginiaannounces the opening of its 2013 Cox Charities grant cycle. Applications for funding will be accepted from Oct. 21 to Nov. 8, with awards announced in February 2014. Applications and information are available at www.coxcharities.org.

Cox Charities is Cox's charitable giving initiative that supports non-profit organizations focused on youth and education programs throughout Virginia. The program, now in its fourth year, serves Cox communities in the Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia, and Roanoke service areas.

"Over the last four years, Cox Charities has awarded $460,000 in grants to more than 40 non-profit organizations in Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia, and Roanoke," said Gary McCollum, SVP and General Manager of Cox Virginia. "Through our philanthropy, Cox is committed to providing assistance in the areas of youth and education, and deepening our impact on children's ability to reach their highest potential."

To receive funding, groups must serve communities within Cox's Hampton Roads, Roanoke, Fairfax County, or Fredericksburg service areas. Eligible programs are youth and education initiatives involving science and technology, mentoring, literacy, or other opportunities designed to advance the education of youth. Grants are awarded in $5,000 and $10,000 increments.
