HOLLYWOOD, Calif., May 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Deluxe Entertainment Services Group Inc. announced today that Sean Coughlin has joined the company as Senior Vice President, Preservation & Restoration Solutions. He will be responsible for Deluxe's film and digital preservation and restoration initiatives worldwide.
Coughlin founded Cinetech in 1990, which became a world leader in film preservation and restoration. While at Cinetech, Coughlin led efforts to restore and preserve classic films from major Hollywood studios including 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros., Universal, Paramount Pictures, MGM, Miramax, New Line Cinema and Revolution Studios. Cinetech also handled technical film projects for the Library of Congress, the British Film Institute, Eastman House, the Frank Capra Collection, the UCLA Film & Television Archive, the Film Foundation, and the Museum of Modern Art. Coughlin and his team were awarded a 2001 Scientific and Engineering Award by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the engineering and development of the RCI-Color Film Restoration Process that restored color to faded original color negatives. His career in the film services industry began in 1980 when he joined New Jersey-based specialty film laboratory Cinema Services, where he gained expertise in handling, restoring and archiving classic films. During his early years in the industry, he worked on the preservation of such silent film classics as "Birth of a Nation," "Napoleon" and "Intolerance."
"Sean is an innovator in the preservation and restoration business," said Warren Stein, COO of Deluxe. "He will play a key role in expanding our services to customers in Hollywood and other content owners around the world."
