Collaboration Brings Together the Best in Passive 3D Technology with the Best in 3D Eyewear
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- CES Booth #21718, South Hall -- Marchon3D® and Arisawa(TM), the Japanese consumer electronics pioneer, have partnered to advance the development of passive 3D technology.
Arisawa is best known for its benchmark role in creating 3D passive technology using its Xpol®( )patterned retardation layer for 3D-compatible displays. Xpol is bonded to the surface of LCD displays, which allows users to view flicker free 3D stereoscopic content when wearing polarized glasses.
"We worked with Arisawa when we were developing our M3D® technology. We needed to make it work with Xpol not only because it is the best in terms of quality, but it's the standard in almost all of the smaller sized screens used for laptops and televisions," said David Johnson, President of Marchon3D. "Arisawa was involved in all of our quality control and testing of our glasses to make sure they meet their very high standards. I'm happy to say that we met and surpassed all of Arisawa's standards and requirements."
Marchon3D will work with Arisawa's technical teams at its research facilities in Japan. Together, they will collaborate on the collective development of passive 3D technology, including working with and testing new materials.
"Marchon3D's commitment to excellence in the 3D experience is in line with our philosophy," said Sanji Arisawa, President and CEO, Arisawa. "As the technology for passive 3D technology improves, it makes sense that 3D glasses improve in parallel. Working with Marchon3D - literally sitting next to us in our labs - ensures that they will continue to have the highest performing 3D glasses in the world."
"We believe in the future of passive 3D technology and are continuing to invest and seek ways to improve the overall 3D experience," continued Johnson. "We are looking forward to experiencing the innovation that comes from this collaboration in the coming year."
