STORY SUMMARY: The 16th Annual 2010 Essence Music Festival Presented by Coca-Cola will take place this Fourth of July weekend (July 2, 3, 4) in New Orleans to convene the country's largest gathering of African-Americans to celebrate Black music. The 2010 Essence Music Festival will feature performances by the largest assembly of black musical talent in the world, augmented by community-oriented ESSENCE Empowerment Seminars led by the country's most prominent African-American leaders. Last year's Essence Music Festival drew more than 428,000 attendees, making it the most successful year for the annual July event.

The 2010 Essence Music Festival will feature an amazing line-up. Kicking off the musical extravaganza on JULY 2: Monica; Raphael Saadiq; Charlie Wilson; and Janet Jackson. Another stellar lineup of artists are scheduled to appear on JULY 3 including: Keri Hilson; LL Cool J; Gladys Knight; and Alicia Keys. Closing out the Festival on JULY 4 will be: Trey Songz; Jill Scott; Mary J. Blige; and Earth, Wind & Fire.
