Fans From Around the World Vote Alternative Band Winner of the 2010 Briggs & Stratton Corporation's 'Battle Of The Bands'
This is Energy beats out 300 bands around the world for title; Will play at Summerfest in June
MILWAUKEE, May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Briggs & Stratton Corporation today announced that This is Energy has been declared winner of the 2010 "Battle of the Bands" contest after a month-long online fan vote at www.briggsbattleofthebands.com. The alternative band from St. Louis beat out nearly 300 bands from around the world - including Italy and Finland - to perform June 26 on the Briggs Big Backyard stage at Milwaukee's Summerfest, the world's largest music festival.
"It's been a long road, but we are so excited to make it to Milwaukee!" said Adam Gardner, vocalist and guitarist for This is Energy. "We entered the Battle knowing that it would be up to the fans around the world to vote us in, and we're so fortunate to have loyal admirers get us this far! We're thrilled to get to rock out for thousands of music lovers at Summerfest."
This is Energy members are Gardner; Britton Campbell, drums; Charlie Springhart, bass guitar; and Dave Baronio, guitar. All are from St. Louis, except Baronio who hails from Lille, France. Ridge Runner, a Cincinnati country band, and The Minus Lo Fi, a rock band from Verona, Italy, rounded out the top three.
"This year's Battle was one for the ages," said Todd Teske, President & CEO of Briggs & Stratton, the world's largest producer of gasoline engines for outdoor power equipment. "When we named our top three bands a few weeks ago, we knew music fans wouldn't disappoint. We were absolutely blown away by the number of votes."
This is Energy will get rock-star treatment at Summerfest, where the band will play on the same stage as national recording artist Gavin Degraw.
"This is the second time we've organized this contest, and again, we're amazed at the response," said Teske. "People love their music, and they love their favorite bands even more. When it comes to showing that support, we see proof that fans never disappoint. We hope these fans connect with our brand and find out what a cool company Briggs & Stratton is!"
