AFGE President John Gage to Discuss VA Downgrades, Organizing Drive on 'Inside Government'
Union support for D.C. mayoral candidate Vincent Gray also to be addressed
WASHINGTON, May 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Efforts by the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) to stop employee downgrades at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will be discussed this week on AFGE's "Inside Government" radio show. The show will air on Friday, May 28 at 10 a.m. ET nationwide on Federal News Radio at www.federalnewsradio.com and 1500 AM in the Washington, D.C., area.
AFGE National President John Gage, who successfully worked with the VA to halt the downgrades, will explain how the measure would have adversely affected thousands of support and clerical workers nationwide. Gage then will highlight the work of AFGE's National VA Council and its impressive May organizing drive, which has already resulted in an increase of more than 2,000 members.
AFGE 14th District National Vice President Dwight Bowman will discuss the union's support of D.C. Council Chairman Vincent Gray in his bid for D.C. mayor. Bowman will highlight AFGE's work with other organizations to secure new leadership in the District, and a renewed commitment to public service.
