Charity Drums up Support With a Little Help From The Beatles and Friends

LONDON, April 26, 2010/PRNewswire/ --

A drumhead signed by Ringo Starr and a stunning limited edition
lithograph of the score of 'Yesterday' are amongst auction items available at
Deafness Research UK's upcoming fundraising event in Kings Place, London, on
Wednesday 28 April.

In addition to speaking to Andrew Marr about his legendary career as
music producer of The Beatles and many of the world's leading recording
artists, Sir George Martin will be introducing a small and prestigious
selection of auction items for attendees to bid on at the end of the evening.

The personalised and signed Weatherking Ambassador 35cm diameter drumhead
kindly donated by Ringo Starr is becoming an increasingly rare and
significant collectors item, as Ringo no longer signs items or gives
autographs.

The stunning specially framed and limited edition lithograph of Sir
George Martin's original 1965 score for the Beatles song 'Yesterday' is
described as being an exact duplicate of the original, down to the mistakes,
tea stains and scribbles. It is one of only 500 of these infrequently
released items, has not previously been owned and is hand signed by both Sir
Paul McCartney and Sir George Martin. It is offered in a double-sided frame
of burr ash and walnut, specially designed by Lord David Linley, the nephew
of HRH Queen Elizabeth II.

Since 2001 Sir George Martin, who is Vice-President of Deafness Research
UK, has been supporting causes close to his heart with proceeds from the sale
of these lithographs. If the lucky auction winner is in the room on the
evening, they will have a unique opportunity to have their picture taken
alongside Sir George and the lithograph.

"Yesterday' is not only a beautiful song but it has a number of firsts
attached to it," said Sir George. "It was the first time that any Beatle
recorded without any other members of the band; it was the first score
written for a Beatles song and it was the first time anyone other than the
Beatles or I played on a record. I'm very grateful to Paul McCartney for
helping me to produce these wonderful lithographs and hope that they will
excite a feverish bidding frenzy," added Sir George Martin.
