Tenor Anthony Kearns to Perform on 'Huckabee' This Sat, April 24 at 8 P.M. Eastern
WASHINGTON, April 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Tenor Anthony Kearns will make his debut appearance on the Fox News Network as a solo artist on 'Huckabee' on Saturday, April 24 at 8 p.m. ET, it was announced today. The show will rebroadcast on Sunday, April 25 at 8 p.m. and again at 11 p.m. ET.
Kearns, who returned late Thursday to the U.S. from Ireland amid the global airline crisis, said he shares former Gov. Mike Huckabee's "deep passion for music" and appreciates the opportunity to be on the popular television program. "I am delighted to meet the Governor and his national audience," Kearns said.
Mr. Kearns' appearance will showcase the extraordinary depth and range of his vocal abilities, said Kearns' publicist, Kirsten Fedewa. The interview with Gov. Huckabee, host of the highly-acclaimed weekend show, will include highlights of Kearns' meteoric career, which began when he won an Irish radio contest "Ireland's Search for a Tenor."
Kearns, an original member of the successful group, The Irish Tenors, will be joined by his accompanist, Patrick Healy. Kearns' appearance on 'Huckabee' comes on the heels of a whirlwind tour with The Irish Tenors and solo performances in Europe and the United States.
Named "Best Irish Tenor," Kearns' recent engagements include a bipartisan holiday reception at the prestigious Capitol Hill Club in Washington, D.C., and performances at the 2010 inaugural festivities of Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell. In February, Kearns made his American operatic debut as Romeo in the Opera Naples (FL) rendition of Romeo and Juliet: Then and Now. Last month, he headlined a charity concert in the D.C. area for ThanksUSA, a nonprofit providing military families with college scholarships. Kearns will make solo appearances on April 25 (DeWitt, NY), May 2 (Worchester, MA) and May 7 (Delta, B.C.). In June, Kearns will have a starring role in Carmen in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland.
On May 2, Kearns will celebrate the 10th anniversary of his first solo U.S. performance at Mechanics Hall in Worchester, MA. The venue is special to Kearns because of its connection to the great Irish tenor John McCormack who also sang there, said Fedewa.
Ms. Fedewa, who secured high profile television interviews for Huckabee during his 2008 presidential campaign, more recently helped him facilitate an appearance of First Lady Michelle Obama on the show. Fedewa said the former Arkansas governor and the Irish tenor share a love for music that is a uniting force across cultures. "I'm grateful that Gov. Huckabee is showcasing Anthony Kearns' astonishing talent to millions of his old and new fans. I urge everyone to tune in," she said.
