Telairity Encoders Make Their Mark on China: National Weather Bureau Among Newest Users
Company Also Establishes Major Partnerships to Market and Distribute Its Encoders
SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Telairity, a global leader in encoding technology, announced today that the China Meteorological Administration (the national weather bureau) will use its encoders as part of a new nationwide satellite initiative. Telairity is also establishing key partnerships throughout China for marketing and distributing its extensive line of high definition and standard definition broadcast encoders.
According to Ben Silva, Telairity Senior VP of Worldwide Sales and Business Development, the new agreements run the gamut of communications from broadcast television and cable companies to multi-system operators (MSOs) and next-generation broadband services, catapulting Telairity and its complete line of encoders to the forefront of the world's most dynamic communications market.
The key agreements being announced are:
-- Telairity partner Beijing Blue Satellite Communication Technology Co.,
Ltd. (BSC) was awarded the Meteorological Administration's satellite
application project and will supply Telairity BE8500 encoders
nationwide. Other BSC clients include the Ministry of Education,
Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Health, China Civil Aviation
Administration and the State Administration of Radio, Film and
Television (SARFT). BSC indicated that additional large scale
Telairity encoder sales to other government agencies will be announced
soon.
-- An agreement to manufacture and distribute SD and HD encoders to
support next-generation broadband "triple-play" services (interactive
cable, IPTV, and mobile TV) now being deployed throughout China. Key
partners are Ouranos Technology Co., Ltd. and the China Data
Broadcasting Union (CDBU). The state-run CDBU is using its extensive
relationships at SARFT, China Central Television (CCTV), MSOs and
other TV broadcasters to provide up-to-date development data for both
Telairity and Ouranos. Several trials are underway, with full scale
deployments expected over the next several months.
-- An agreement to design, manufacture and sell encoding systems based on
China's AVS encoding standard (China's equivalent of the H.264/AVC
video compression standard). Telairity's AVS partners include Hansun
Technology Corporation, and the Communications University of China,
College of Information Technology (CUC). Hansun specializes in
technologies and solutions for IPTV, triple-play, and in-home
multimedia distribution. CUC is widely regarded as the cradle of
China's elite in radio, television, film and communication.
"The rapid progress of our business in the Far East is another validation of our fundamental business strategy of owning our key encoding technologies, which lets us move quickly and decisively to meet the special needs of a market like China," said Silva. "We're pleased to take our rightful place among the global leaders of this most important communications technology."
