The New York Virtuoso Singers Present the Music of John Corigliano and Mark Adamo

A celebration of two of today's leading composers features many of the Pulitzer-winning Corigliano's chamber choral works and a pre-concert talk with both modern music masters

NEW YORK, March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The New York Virtuoso Singers (http://www.nyvirtuoso.org/) and Artistic Director and Conductor Harold Rosenbaum close their 2009-2010 season with a program fit for a grand finale: chamber choral works by the Pulitzer Prize-winning John Corigliano and selected works -- several of which were revised for this performance -- by acclaimed composer-librettist and Corigliano's partner, Mark Adamo. This one-of-a-kind performance is at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 11 in St. Ignatius of Antioch Episcopal Church at 87th Street and West End Avenue in New York City. A pre-concert talk with the composers will take place at 2 p.m.

Throughout the years, audiences have been enamored with the stunning originality of these composers in their wildly successful operas, symphonies, and other works. Now, they will have an opportunity to hear the beautiful and rarely performed choir music they have created including many premieres that will be performed on this occasion.

"John Corigliano is one of the preeminent composers of today, and this will be the first time such a celebration of his chamber choral works will be on one program," Rosenbaum said. "Combined with dramatic selections by Mark Adamo, this concert will be one to remember."

Corigliano continues to add to one of the richest, most unusual, and most widely celebrated bodies of work any composer has created over the last 40 years. Composer-librettist Adamo, acclaimed by critic Alex Ross as "one of the best opera composers of the moment," has composed a number of substantial choral works over the past decade.

The New York Virtuoso Singers, acclaimed by The New York Times as "New York's outstanding concert choir," present regular season concerts in the historic turn-of-the-century Saint Ignatius of Antioch Episcopal Church, 87th street off of West End Avenue in New York City's Upper West Side, where the group is chorus-in-residence.
