NEW YORK, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- MTV will provide lights, cameras and plenty of Hollywood action as the network today announced that the 2010 "MTV Movie Awards" and "MTV Video Music Awards" will both air LIVE from Los Angeles this year. As the best and brightest in film and music descend upon Los Angeles, the city will become hotter in more ways than one as MTV delivers more of the unpredictable, one-night-only moments and performances viewers can't wait to see each year. The 19th annual "MTV Movie Awards" will air LIVE on Sunday, June 6th from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California and the 27th annual "MTV Video Music Awards" will air LIVE Sunday, September 12th from Los Angeles, CA (venue TBA).

Emmy® Award winner Mark Burnett returns for the fourth year in a row to executive produce the 2010 "MTV Movie Awards," where movie megastars will vie for the golden popcorn in award categories as only MTV could create them - including "Best Kiss," "Best Fight" and "Best Comedic Performance." For the second time in "Movie Awards" history, the final 2010 nominees in addition to the winners, will be decided by the MTV fans.

One of the driving forces behind reality television and a true visionary, Mark Burnett has enjoyed a long history of executive producing Emmy® Award-winning television. The "2009 MTV Movie Awards" delivered an average audience of 5.3 million viewers on its premiere night, making it the show's most watched telecast in five years. Delivering a 4.8 P12-34 rating, year-to-year gains were seen across the board, with a 133% increase among F18-24 marking the strongest gain. The day of premiere, MTV.com delivered 1.7M unique visitors, a +42% gain vs. the previous year's awards and garnered 3.9M streams, which marked a +59% growth in streams.

The "2009 MTV Video Music Awards" was watched by 26.9 million viewers on its premiere night across MTV, MTV2 and VH1. The "2009 MTV Video Music Awards" was 2009's most watched non-sports cable telecast among P12-34. Delivering a 7.5 P12-34 coverage rating and an average of 9 million total viewers on MTV, the "VMA's marked its largest audience since 2004. The show attracted 1.7 million unique visitors on MTV.com, including traffic to show pages, flipbooks, video content, and news related to the "Video Music Awards." This marked 24% increase over 2008's day-of figures, making this the best "VMA" premiere day in MTV.com history.
