Zehnder's Snowfest Celebrates Winter Fun for 19th Year

FRANKENMUTH, Mich., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Get ready to be dazzled when Zehnder's Snowfest 2010 returns to the Bavarian town of Frankenmuth on Wednesday, January 27. The 19th annual event runs through February 1. Championship snow and ice sculpture teams along with competitions and exhibitions from high school to college students will make Frankenmuth the coolest gallery of winter art in Michigan. There will be plenty of entertainment and activities including fireworks on Saturday evening (January 30) for the entire family, Michigan's Best Apple Pie Contest (January 27), and the annual American Culinary Federation Hot Food Competition (February 1).
New for Snowfest 2010: Greg Butauski, the award winning certified master ice sculptor and his team will be creating a 60-block masterpiece that will depict the "Lost City of Atlantis" complete with mermaids, fish, giant clams and Neptune along with several interactive ice carvings. Each block will weigh approximately 400 pounds. The sculpture will be carved on Thursday and Friday of Snowfest and then on display the entire weekend.
Kids' entertainment includes a show by Juggler Tommy Tropic, pony rides, inflatable's and petting zoo. The entire family can play Putt Putt Ice Golf on a nine hole course with ice sculpture obstacles. The Warming Tent will be available to take the chill off with food, entertainment and displays. The Warming Tent will also present nightly concerts featuring a U.S. Army Band, country, rock, Christian music and more.
Over the weekend winners will be announced for the U.S. National Collegiate Ice Carving Competition, State of Michigan Snow Sculpting competition, the High School Snow Sculpture Contest and the World Class Snow Sculpting Competition that features snow artists from Spain, Peru, Mexico, USA and the Netherlands.
