From the time when his first record was released in 1954 until his death in 1977, Presley became one of the nation's most revered entertainers. But songs such as "Heartbreak Hotel" and "Blue Suede Shoes" sold millions of records to adoring young people, and he later became a fixture performing in Las Vegas.
