Move Over Survivor -- Drama About Fort Worth Opera Wins Reality TV Contest

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, AMP Productions was selected as the winner of the CableU's Non-Fiction Emerging Producer Contest for Lone Star Opera, a reality show exploring the behind-the-scenes-world of Fort Worth Opera's annual Festival. The contest was held as part of the 2010 National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The winning unscripted series chronicles the lives of artists, staff and craftspeople fighting the clock to stage three operas in five weeks, with careers, reputations and relationships at stake every step of the way. "Most people have ideas about opera singers and companies that are so far from reality," says Darren K. Woods, General Director of Fort Worth Opera. "Not only is this series a lot of fun - it's funny, tense, sad at times - it is also surprising and very interesting, I think especially to those who don't know anything about opera."

As the winner of the contest, Lone Star Opera will be represented by CABLEready, which describes itself as "the television industry's premier international independent program representation firm," and touts shows such as Inside the Actors Studio, Medical Detectives, and more.
