Downtown Denver's 16th St. Mall is Transformed Into a City Wide Stereo System with the premiere of 'UNSILENT NIGHT'

DENVER, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- "UNSILENT NIGHT" is similar to a caroling except participants do not sing, but rather carry boomboxes, each playing a separate tape or CD, which is part of the piece. It's a 44-minute glorious ambient score providing traveling Holiday cheer composed by Phil Kline that allows the entire city to chime in. The event is touted as a modern twist on strolling minstrels and caroling parties.

"UNSILENT NIGHT" is hosted by Denver Pavilions' Holiday Buzz and will take place on Wednesday, December 16th at 4:45pm.

Participation is open to the public. Participants should meet at 4:45pm in the North Plaza of Denver Pavilions. Audiocassettes or CD's will be distributed for participants to play as they walk down the 16th Street Mall, creating the famous "Unsilent Night" sound. MP3's are also available for download. The procession will begin at 5:00pm and will travel along the 16th St. Mall.

The Village Voice explains the performance: "A marvelously fluid, traveling spatial sound sculpture that disintegrates and reforms at nearly every stop light. This is a holiday tradition that could give new music a good name."
