A STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS

Talib Kweli is regarded as one of the most respected emcees alive. As he takes the stage at Red Bull BC One, by his side will be super producer Hi-Tek who together make up the MC/producer duo Reflection Eternal. Their debut album Train of Thought came out almost 10 years ago but still stands up as a true hip-hop classic. Together they are magic on stage. Playing off each other effortlessly, Talib knows how to take a serious subject, shake-it-up and get the party started.

Hi-Tek supports Talib's conscious flow with his rock solid beats. Known for his commercial appeal, the duo is no strangers to collaboration. In the 90's they were part of the critically acclaimed group Black Star with lyrical legend Mos Def . Their self-titled album put the three at the forefront of the newly revived underground hip-hop scene and helped shape underground alternative rap, while also bringing it into the mainstream eye. With nods from the likes of Jay-Z and 50 Cent, they have to be doing something right.

JAM ON THE GROOVE

Just when it couldn't get any better, in between the madness will be a unique performance by the original b-boys, The Rock Steady Crew (RSC). They have been around since hip-hop's inception and are preparing for their return to the floor as we speak. Expect to see all the moves; poppin, lockin, fancy footwork, breakin, you name it. RSC president, Richard Colon aka Crazy Legs, not only created the continuous backspin and famous dance move -- the windmill, but he's choreographed music videos for acts such as Wyclef Jean and Moby while also appearing in them. He is the co-producer of the b-boy documentary "The Freshest Kids" and has danced in countless commercials and print ads. Legs has been in films and documentaries such as: "Style Wars," "Wild Style," "Flash Dance," and "Beat Street." The Source magazine honored him with their Hip-Hop Pioneer Award in 1994. Rock Steady Crew is the longest lasting hip-hop dance organization of its era that continues to perform, compete, preserve and educate younger generations. They have even performed for the Queen of England! http://www.rocksteadycrew.com/

Jump rope tricksters from the National Double Dutch League are bringing in another element of performance to the night. Double Dutch jump roping also started on the streets of New York back in the 70's and over the years has become a full-fledged sport. National Double Dutch League is the governing body for the sport across the world. http://www.nationaldoubledutchleague.com/
