Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to Honor USC Dean Dr. Elizabeth Daley at Inaugural Alfred Hitchcock Legacy Tribute Gala

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Los Angeles Chapter, hosts its inaugural "Alfred Hitchcock Legacy Tribute Gala," honoring Dr. Elizabeth Daley, Dean, USC School of Cinematic Arts, Saturday, November 7 at the Globe Theater at Universal Studios, home for more than 40 years to the iconic filmmaker. The Hitchcock family, including daughter Pat and granddaughters Mary and Tere serve as Honorary Chairs and will present the award to Daley.

George Lucas, Jeff Refold, Tom Rothman and Jessica Harper, Kelly and Ron Meyer, Bryan Singer, Stacey Sher, Larry N. Thacker, Jr. and Donna J. Nestor, Lynne Wasserman and Leslie and Robert Zemeckis are Vice Chairs.

Since joining the USC School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) as Dean in 1991, Elizabeth Daley has continued its tradition of partnership with the entertainment industry.

Fifty years ago, a child born with CF did not live to attend elementary school. Today, the life expectancy is 37 years, thanks to a community of researchers, medical professionals, donors, volunteers and staff, who continue to work tirelessly and passionately to find a cure for this genetic, life-threatening disease. Since the discovery of the CF gene in 1989, research has advanced at an exponential rate. Despite this significant progress, lives continue to be lost. With the launch of the Therapeutics Development Program, the pursuit of new therapies has accelerated and this year has been a breakthrough in CF drug development. Currently, there are more than two dozen drugs and therapies in various stages of development to provide CF patients longer and better lives.
