Nomad Innovations Introduces LiveEdge 2.0 at Intel Developers Forum

LiveEdge(TM) Enables Wireless News Coverage Via 3G and 4G Networks

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Live news coverage for television broadcasters in the United States and abroad is now easier, faster and less expensive, thanks to the wireless news-gathering capability of LiveEdge. (http://liveedge.tv/)

Nomad Innovations introduced LiveEdge v2.0 at the Intel Developers Forum (IDF) in San Francisco this week. The 1.5 pound LiveEdge unit attaches to news cameras and enables live coverage for broadcast, cable or web via high-bandwidth wireless and/or wired broadband network, all without using a live truck or microwave network.

LiveEdge sets up in seconds and requires no engineering support. News crews can be on the air with breaking news in a fraction of the time required for setting up microwave shots. Live events can be covered without deploying production units.

LiveEdge offers news crews a robust two-way audio/video/data connection between the scene of a news story and the studio. LiveEdge provides secure connectivity to iNews, ENPS, non-linear editing and other production systems. A return path provides IFB and Intercom via a Bluetooth interface as well as confidence video or teleprompter.

LiveEdge can transmit video in NTSC, PAL, SDI and HD formats. Nomad Innovations has 11 patent applications pending for its LiveEdge hardware and software.

Nomad Innovations with the assistance of the Intel Mobile Platforms Group has been developing, integrating and streamlining the LiveEdge 2.0 version utilizing Intel® Atom(TM) processors, Moblin(TM) software and Intel® WiMAX/WiFi Link 5350. The result is a technology that revolutionizes broadcast news gathering with a dramatically cost- effective, high performance, easy to implement solution.

Bob Klingle, CEO of Nomad Innovations, said, "We could think of no better time or place to announce the release of our 2.0 version solution than at this event with the valued support of Intel. At IDF, one-of-a-kind special sessions are lead by industry visionaries bringing you the latest ideas and technologies for the future."

"We are honored to be considered one of the technologies for the future. With our first international and national deployments about to occur, look for many more announcements from Nomad in the very near future."
