Grammy Nominee Peter Himmelman and The Land of Nod Launch Weekly Variety Show for Children

New Webisode-Based Format a First for Retailers

NORTHBROOK, Ill., Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- It's a curious world out there, and The Land of Nod and Peter Himmelman want some answers.

That's why The Land of Nod, a leading children's specialty retailer, is teaming with Himmelman, a Grammy-nominated, internationally acclaimed musician, to premiere a weekly online, TV-formatted variety show for children ages 3 to 12.

Launching Sept. 27, 2009, on www.thelandofnod.com, Curious World is hosted by Himmelman and features a live audience of real kids asking and answering everyday questions on a variety of kid-related topics. Each themed episode includes short segments like Himmelman's man-on-the-street visits with a dog walker, surf instructor, and other fun, informative experts. There's also "Turtle Talk," with Himmelman's wise and witty African leopard tortoise "King Ferdinand," who some adults may recognize from Himmelman's adult web-based variety show, Furious World. Himmelman and his band also perform the Curious World theme song along with other music from his award-winning family albums.

"Since many kids turn to the internet for information and entertainment, The Land of Nod was eager to partner with Peter on this project," said Scott Eirinberg, president of The Land of Nod. "Our goal is to encourage children to reflect on different issues and situations that they deal with and then allow the audience, comprised solely of kids, to think and speak for themselves."

The launch of Curious World coincides with Himmelman's latest children's album, My Trampoline, released earlier this month and available at all of The Land of Nod's store locations, as well as online at www.landofnod.com.
