Investors See Incredible Potential in COVERPLAY Play Yard Slipcovers

Investors See Incredible Potential in COVERPLAY Play Yard Slipcovers

ABC's 'Shark Tank' investors battle over who gets to invest in the company

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Local Los Angeles business-women and now "Shark Tank" entrepreneurs appeared on ABC's hit TV show The Shark Tank on Sunday August 30, 2009. COVERPLAY owners and business partners, Allison Costa and Amy Feldman are both originally from New Jersey and New York, now live in Los Angeles, CA. The women impressed the investors with their business savvy and the potential of their product and company. The show was incredible and the women caused a feeding frenzy with the investors.

Barbara Corcoran, Real Estate Mogul and one of the potential investors on the "Shark Tank", gave Costa and Feldman the option to keep control of COVERPLAY in conjunction with a substantial sum of money to help create growth for the company. Three of the other potential investors on The "Shark Tank" gave them an alternative option, which would have forced them to give up control by taking 51% ownership.

After deliberation, Costa and Feldman made the decision to keep 60% ownership of their business and partner with the investor that was referred to as "the black widow in stilettos." The success of winning investor, Barbara Corcoran will bring powerful business experience to COVEPRLAY. Corcoran's successful career started when she originally grew a $1,000 investment into her own multi-million dollar business.

The COVERPLAY slipcovers are a one-of-a-kind fun and fashionable product, which impressed investors as they began to consider the potential for both retail distributions through major channels as well as direct sales of the product to the end-user through the company's online store.

The product was developed after Costa, the mother of twin boys, grew concerned after discovering how difficult it was to clean her children's play yard. The resulting convenient solution was COVERPLAY Slipcovers to make life easier for parents. With fellow designer and partner Amy Feldman, they created a line of play yard covers in over 20 different designs, ranging in price from $49.99 - $59.99. COVERPLAY Slipcovers have also been featured in Parenting Magazine, Twins Magazine, BabiesToday.com and many other media outlets and placed as a finalist in the Whirlpool Brand Mother of Invention Grant competition.
