Ten Thousand Colombian Flowers for Hillary Duff
BOGOTA, Colombia, Aug. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Ten thousand Colombian-grown flowers will regale the young North American actress, Hillary Duff, during her visit to Colombia on August 14th, by invitation of the Mayor of Bogota, Samuel Moreno, to become the Goodwill Youth Ambassador and kicking off her "Blessings in a Backpack" foundation activities in Colombia.
Augusto Solano, President of Asocolflores, the Association of Colombian Flower Exporters, said its trade association's companies will contribute the beautiful Colombian roses, carnations, alstroemerias, gerberas and chrysanthemums that will decorate the many venues to be visited by one of North America's most well-known and respected young artists.
Solano added that Duff's visit takes on a special significance, "She is much more than just a recognized pop singer at the young age of 21; she has also established her own foundation that benefits children who live below the poverty line, an ideal that is shared by Asocolflores members." He stated that the Colombia floriculture trade association has implemented many education and social programs for the benefit and care of the nearly 20,000 children of floriculture workers, while their parents work on Asocolflores affiliated flower farms.
