Veteran Digital Media Exec Joins DNA

DENVER, March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The Denver Newspaper Agency has hired an expert in online media innovation and monetization as its new senior vice president of interactive media.

Alison Kane brings to the publisher of The Denver Post 25 years of strategic marketing, technology and operational expertise, with an emphasis in technology solutions and services within the e-commerce and digital media area.

Kane joins the Denver Newspaper Agency from Local Matters, a Denver-based technology solutions and online media company, where she was executive vice president for online media.

In announcing Kane's appointment, Gerald Grilly, president and CEO of the newspaper agency, said her background was "particularly well-suited to the challenges facing our industry as it transforms its business model during these challenging economic times."

Kane said the ongoing changes in the newspaper industry, coupled with the current economic climate, "create both a perfect storm and a perfect opportunity" to help metro Denver businesses and consumers connect through new media vehicles.

She described her new assignment at the DNA as an opportunity to "leverage outstanding local content and build online communities within the company's various online websites into a robust online media network" that provides value to advertisers and consumers alike.

Prior to joining Local Matters in January 2008, Kane held a variety of senior management positions as a strategic marketing executive for several technology and digital media companies, including leading the search engine marketing technology business for Seattle-based Atlas, a division of aQuantive which was acquired by Microsoft in 2007.

A native of Great Britain, Kane began her career as a systems engineer for Electronic Data Systems of Texas. She holds an undergraduate business degree from the University of Denver and advanced business degrees from Purdue University and Budapest University.

Kane, her husband and son live in Centennial, CO.
