Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation Celebration Date Announced
NEW YORK, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation has picked the date for its annual celebration. The evening of live performances will take place on Monday, December 29, 2008 at Scholastic, in downtown New York. The celebration brings together Hadar scholars, mentors, and their families, and showcases the talents of a select group of Hadar scholars chosen each year to perform. This year's line up includes: violinist Yuriy Bekker, currently the Concert Master of the Charleston, South Carolina Symphony; pianist Kwan Yi who has won the First Prize in the 2008 Schmidbauer International Piano Competition and attends Julliard for his graduate studies; violinist Blanca Gonzalez, currently studying at Queens College; jazz vocalist Melanie Charles who attends the New School; opera singer Nicholle Bittlingmeyer, currently in her freshmen year at Queens College; actor Nathaniel Taylor-Leach, also a host of his own Beatles radio station at Emerson College which he attends; actor and mime Alexander Romanitan, a senior at Brooklyn College; poet Allison Pilatsky, currently a freshman at Smith College; and actor in the celebrated off-Broadway show "The Brig" as well as founder of his own sketch comedy group, Andrew Greer, in the role of MC.
Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation has been supporting young artistic talents since its inception in 1993. In addition to receiving college scholarships, the Hadar scholars are offered a mentoring program, and opportunities to develop and showcase their talents through celebrations and art gallery shows, workshops and art studio visits. Richard Hadar said: "Mica Hadar and I are delighted to watch the artistic growth of the Hadar scholars.
