Cox Business and Bloomberg Financial Present Free Forum Featuring Award-Winning Author Jane Applegate
PROVIDENCE, R.I., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Business, Bloomberg Financial in conjunction with the Rhode Island Small Business Development Center (RISBDC) presented a free, educational forum for small business owners entitled "Small Business: Flourishing in Tough Economic Times" today at the Johnson & Wales University Westminster Technology Conference Center.
"Small Business: Flourishing in Tough Economic Times" featured guest speaker Jane Applegate, an award-winning columnist on small business management and the author of four books about entrepreneurial success, including 201 Great Ideas for Your Small Business. Applegate is known for her comparison of business owners to plate spinners in a circus: as soon as one plate is spinning in the air, another crashes to the floor.
"Cox Business and Bloomberg Financial believe this forum allows business owners to learn fresh management strategies from a nationally acclaimed business expert," said Mark Scott, vice president of Cox Business in New England. "Business of all sizes face large and small challenges each and every day, but it's typically the small businesses owner that feels the most immediate repercussions from an economic downturn. I am confident that Ms. Applegate's expertise and creative business ideas will inspire attendees."
Following the small business forum, Applegate hosted a book discussion with Johnson & Wales business students about 201 Great Ideas for Your Small Business. The bestseller features ways to woo clients and places to find them, as well as examples to streamline meetings, hire legal teams and create a safer workplace.
"Having the chance to partner with Cox Business on this event enables our clients and students to hear first-hand some of the very challenges they could be called upon to address in the business world," said John Cronin, executive director of the RISBDC.
