Former Google Executive to Maximize Business Opportunities For Web Content to TV Platform

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- ActiveVideo Networks(TM), which provides solutions that infuse TV with Web content and interactivity, today announced that veteran new media and consumer products executive Jason Harvey has been named Vice President and General Manager of Programming Strategy and Operations.

Harvey joins ActiveVideo Networks from Google, for which he drove vertical business planning and strategy and management for new media and online sales in Latin America. He previously had supervised the marketing activities of such major brands as Nissan Motor Cars and Land Rover, and had been responsible for driving new business initiatives for Microsoft in Brazil.

With ActiveVideo Networks, Harvey will be responsible for maximizing the business potential of the ActiveVideo(TM) Distribution Network, including the acquisition, carriage and monetization of content. ActiveVideo immerses viewers in an engaging television experience that intelligently streams Web video, casual gaming, Web 2.0 functionality and traditional TV to any digital set-top box or Web-connected CE device.

"We see the creation of a strong content business that offers new opportunities for advertisers as a key part of the ActiveVideo value proposition," said Ed Forman, executive vice president, products and services for ActiveVideo Networks. "We believe that Jason Harvey's superior management skills and innate sense of marketplace trends will accelerate our ability to create and execute the comprehensive, compelling content strategy that will benefit our customers, our partners and ourselves."

"With Google and Microsoft, a critical part of our success was in being able to identify market needs opportunities and align business units to develop solutions," said Harvey. As senior industry marketing manager of Asia Pacific and Latin America for Google, Harvey was solely responsible for developing growth strategies for Latin America, with a particular emphasis on the key markets of Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico. During his two years in the position, he implemented significant revenue producing new media solution and monetization strategies for Google and YouTube that enabled significant penetration of the non-search market. Harvey also supervised U.S. Hispanic marketing efforts for Nissan Motor Cars as group account director and general manager of The Vidal Partnership, and was regional sales and marketing director for Land Rover, a division of Ford Motor Company.
