The International Children's Festival combines art and fun for families. Children representing cultures from all over the world will share their traditions through the international language of dance, music and the arts at Wolf Trap this week. Representatives of the media are invited to a special preview on Tues., Sept. 9. All-Pro Wide Receiver, Santana Moss will welcome VIP guests and 5th grade students who will come to Wolf Trap as part of the Fairfax County Public School Social Studies curriculum. Please RSVP to contacts listed above.

Youth performing groups from China, Finland, Ghana and Jordan will perform alongside multicultural student performers from across the metropolitan Washington area. This year, ScrapArts Music, a phenomenal percussion group out of Vancouver, Canada, will join the cultural exchange and through their music and instruments made of all recycled materials, they will excite and energize the audience while also educating about the importance of caring for the environment.

In addition to performances, the weekend Festival will also feature a Creative Kids Workshop. Families will enjoy hands-on educational art activities and kids of all ages will enjoy face painting and learning about music making at the Instrument Petting Zoo. New this year is the Global Art and Rhythm tent where kids will experience performances and workshops in the mornings, and meet and greet with the international performers in the afternoons. In addition, the new Toddler Time tent offers kids an interactive opportunity to explore the featured countries and various instruments through interactive play.

The International Children's Festival is produced by the Arts Council of Fairfax County, a private, non-profit corporation, in cooperation with the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts and the National Park Service. Proceeds from the Festival, after expenses, are used to host several thousand additional families in the metropolitan Washington area.
