Openfilm Pioneering a Next Generation Online Video Site

Emerging filmmakers invited to submit content

MIAMI, June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Openfilm today announced it will launch a new website www.openfilm.com that will feature a library of premium video content as well as a host of social networking tools. The company is pioneering a next generation online video site by combining the best aspects of video sharing (user uploads, social networking, ratings, etc.) with the content selection, high video quality and rich presentation style of commercial video-on-demand sites.

"Web video has become a mainstream industry, but viewers and filmmakers are still looking for an online destination to watch, upload and share only original and quality user-generated content. Openfilm is striving to provide the best viewer experience as well as to be very filmmaker-friendly", said Timothy Pastushkin, chief executive officer of Openfilm. "Openfilm gives content creators the ability to showcase their work in the way it was intended to be seen, in high quality."

Openfilm is building a library of original videos from its rapidly growing user base, along with its own collection of web video series, produced at the company's Miami-based studio. Openfilm is also partnering with film schools and film festivals to provide content. The site offers 50/50 ad revenue sharing to all contributors.

The site is in private beta mode, but pre-registration is now open for all content creators to join and upload their original video and animation to the site. All registered members who upload videos accepted by Openfilm are given advance access to the private beta site. Early contributors benefit by having a greater presence on the site at the time of the public launch.

Openfilm welcomes all submissions, but screens each video for narrative and production quality. Accepted videos are custom encoded and added to the well-organized lineup on the site.

Openfilm provides creative content producers with a vehicle to showcase their films, animated shorts, comedy clips and other work in a rich presentation style by offering a unique combination of such features as:

-- Custom processing of all video submissions -- Large video player (displaying resolutions of 640x360 (16:9) and 480x360 (4:3)) -- No limitations on video duration -- Allows submissions as Internet uploads or as mail-in DVDs -- Large variety of upload file formats, including (.swf) Flash animation -- Cast/crew information and production photos -- Custom user channel images and flash banners for shows and channels created by the Openfilm designers -- All standard video sharing features including favorites, playlists, star ratings, comments, and many others.

To register, submit content and request an access to the private beta, users are invited to go to http://www.openfilm.com/
