Openfilm and Greater Philadelphia Student Film Festival Announce Strategic Content Partnership
MIAMI, June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Openfilm, a next generation online video site featuring the best user-generated content, today announced a content partnership with the Greater Philadelphia Student Film Festival (GPSFF) to make available a broad selection of quality short films, animations and student works on Openfilm.com.

The arrangement will kick-off with the complete collection of finalists for the 2008 Festival, plus a selection of submissions from 2006 and 2007. More GPSFF titles will be available on Openfilm.com later this year. Openfilm will provide promotional support to the Festival on its website, and through sponsorship of various GPSFF activities throughout the year.
"We are very excited to establish this strategic partnership with GPSFF," said Timothy Pastushkin, CEO of Openfilm. "It fits ideally with our strategy to feature the best user-generated content. We bring the original works of ambitious content creators to a wide audience in our high-definition video player and rich presentation style, as they were meant to be seen, so the content creators can gain valuable exposure for their works."
Yanik Ruiz-Ramon, Co-Executive Director of GPSFF, commented "We are delighted to partner with Openfilm. They understand the filmmakers and unlike other video websites optimize the films for high quality streaming. The selectiveness of this unique website also ensures that innovative films are not lost in a flurry of home videos. This is the perfect opportunity for GPSFF to showcase Philadelphia's student filmmakers to a global audience."
"This partnership gives Openfilm an excellent opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to promote independent and student filmmakers and the organizations that serve them," added Justin Heber, VP Business Development of Openfilm. "This is an important milestone in our strategy to provide an outstanding venue for all content creators, film festivals and film schools, as well as the best viewing experience for all our users."
Openfilm custom encodes and displays submissions in resolution from 640x360 to full-blown HD at 1280x720, depending on the user's source files. This allows filmmakers to display their work in its original quality, but also gives users with slower internet connections the option of viewing smaller versions of video.
Earlier this month Openfilm announced it will launch its website, Openfilm.com, featuring a library of premium video content, as well as a host of social networking tools. The site is currently in private beta mode, but pre-registration is available for all content creators to join and upload their original video and animation to the site.
