Starz Entertainment Promotes Debbie Alther to Vice President of Program and Promotion Planning and Scheduling

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Starz Entertainment, LLC today announced the promotion of Debbie Alther to vice president of program and promotion planning and scheduling. She works out of the Englewood, Colo. office and reports to Jonathan Shair, vice president of network operations for Starz Entertainment. Alther had been executive director of inventory management.

In this new role, Alther is responsible for the programming and promotion scheduling and planning for all of Starz Entertainment's linear, on-demand and broadband offerings. She is charged with leading the team's efforts to competitively and creatively plan, schedule, package and promote the services striving to maximize each service's ability to create an identity, draw and hold audiences as well as positively influence viewer satisfaction.

During her tenure at Starz Entertainment, Alther was instrumental in the development and launch of six unique linear channels as well as the initial development of the company's on demand service. She successfully led a cross-functional team through an unprecedented "flip-the-switch" re-launch of 13 Starz Entertainment channels. Additionally, Alther has acted as executive director for several of the company's on-air events.

Alther spent 20 years in the television entertainment industry before joining Starz Entertainment in 1996. Her diverse experience prior to Starz Entertainment includes work in independent television, local broadcast, local cable and national multi-service operators. Through that time, she gathered experience in programming, promotions, marketing and operations with many years focused on building the pay-per-view business.

Alther is a member of Women in Cable Telecommunications, enjoys cooking and is an aspiring writer. A native of Tucson, Ariz., Alther currently resides in Denver, Colo. with her husband Bill.
