Pingercast Messaging, Previously Available Only to Major Media Companies, Now Available to Any Creator or Producer Looking to Build Awareness with Fans

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 2, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Pinger, Inc. today announced a beta of its Pingercast messaging service which enables independent bands, bloggers, comedians and entertainers to connect directly with their audience by sending audio broadcasts directly to their fans' mobile phones. Until now only large film distributors, record labels and political figures could take advantage of the Pingercast service.

Pingercast messages are a great way to get people engaged and build buzz on anything from sneak peeks at new material to tour updates to exclusive or breaking news. The Pingercast service can be used to promote web content or create unique audio content that is specifically designed for the mobile phone.

Lionsgate has used Pingercast to build buzz for films including, Tyler Perry's "Meet the Browns," "Good Luck Chuck" and "Saw IV." "Pinger is a unique and innovative technology that allows us to engage audiences in a new and captivating way," said Danielle DePalma and Jean McDowell, Directors of Digital Media, Lionsgate. Vice President, Promotions and Licensing Aubrey McClure added, "Our campaign for Tyler Perry's "Meet The Browns" surpassed our expectations. We were thrilled to utilize their technology to interact with our audience, which yielded an overwhelming response for the film and the campaign."

For fans nothing is more powerful or personal than hearing from their favorite artists directly, and Pingercast enables them to do just that. Additional entities currently using the Pingercast service include British musician Edward Rogers, Devon Allman's band Honeytribe, Internet personality "Bad Ass" Frank and the Mavericks Surf Contest(R).

"Many bands, artists and bloggers have large fan followings and these fans want to extend their relationships to the mobile phone," said Greg Woock, CEO of Pinger. "Now everyone can use Pingercast messages as a personal broadcasting tool."

The Pingercast service is convenient and easy to use, and with a few simple steps anyone can set up a subscription widget to gather names and numbers of their fan base, record messages and send them to fans' mobile phones. Fans can then easily reply and even forward messages to propel the viral aspect of the service.
