ASACP and Stormy Daniels Join Together to Create RTA PSA

LOS ANGELES, April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) has created a public service announcement (PSA) featuring adult film star Stormy Daniels for the RTA ("Restricted to Adults") website label. Daniels is a Wicked Pictures Contract Performer, Writer, and Director. In addition she has appeared in such films as The 40-Year Old Virgin, Knocked-up, and the FX Network series Dirt. The RTA PSA, which is available for viewing on http://www.youtube.com/ASACPRTA, features Daniels discussing the RTA website label and encouraging parents to use parental filtering software in order to protect children from viewing age-inappropriate content. The one minute video is the first in what will become an ongoing series of PSAs produced by ASACP featuring different adult entertainment stars.

RTA is the adult entertainment industry's effort to protect children from viewing content that is age-inappropriate. It was developed by ASACP out of a need for an easy to use and internationally recognized label that designates content for adults only. The RTA label is a unique string of "meta data" which can easily be inserted into the computer code of any website. Parental filtering software recognizes the tag and prevents children from viewing adult content. The RTA label is free and universally available. ASACP launched RTA in November 2006 and it now has over four million page link-ins.

"Internet service providers, browsers, filtering software, and even computer operating systems such as Microsoft's Vista offer parental control options. But for those systems to work, websites intended for 'adults only' need to be labeled as such. RTA makes that possible," stated ASACP CEO Joan Irvine. "The adult entertainment industry is doing their part and now we need parents to do theirs. The RTA PSA reminds parents to utilize their parental filtering options."

Daniels added, "Being involved in the PSA for the RTA label was not just something that I wanted to do, but something I felt was an obligation. Making the decision to be a part of the adult entertainment industry comes with many responsibilities and I believe that by taking an active role in protecting minors that others in my business will follow my lead. I am hoping this PSA will educate people and encourage them to do their part for the benefit of everyone."

A video that ASACP produced last summer featuring highlights from a press conference announcing RTA has been viewed over 100,000 times on YouTube. While that video was only available for viewing on the internet, plans are being made to make ASACP's PSA series available in formats that can be used on cable networks and on DVDs.

RTA has been honored by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and The Center for Association Leadership, Washington, DC. ASACP was only one of fifteen organizations to receive this distinction from ASAE and was placed on the Honor Roll for its RTA website label. Additionally ASACP recently received a Certificate of Recognition from Los Angeles Mayor, Antonio R. Villaraigosa, acknowledging ASACP's efforts to help parents prevent their children from viewing age-inappropriate content with the RTA website label.
