Bee Movie Sparks Creation of Unusual Honey Bottle

HILLSBORO, Kan., March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- March 11th marks the DVD release of Bee Movie, starring Barry Bee voiced by Jerry Seinfeld. One innovative manufacturer, Golden Heritage Foods, is taking advantage of the buzz.

Licensed by DreamWorks to make honey products that look like the characters in the movie, GHF did that and more. Honey lovers across the nation can now enjoy honey in a Barry Bee look alike bottle. But more importantly, the company pioneered the first two ounce size honey bottle, perfect for honey on the go. The two-ounce Barry Bee is available now at retailers nationwide, including Wal-Mart, Safeway and other grocery stores.

"It's very exciting to offer consumers a whole new convenient way to use honey. It's the perfect size for active families, for the office or to enjoy practically anywhere," said Dwight Stoller, Chief Executive Officer of Golden Heritage Foods. "No other honey company in the nation produces a bottle like Barry."

The company is using awareness generated by Bee Movie and its Barry Bee bottle to educate consumers about the importance of the honeybee to the nation's food supply. "The importance of honeybees to agriculture, and our dependence on the beekeeper farmers who tend them, simply cannot be overstated," said Brent Barkman, Executive Chairman.

Consider: -- One mouthful in three of the foods you eat directly or indirectly depends on pollinations by honeybees. -- Bees are nature's greatest pollinator, increasing the yield and quality of national agriculture by billions of dollars annually. -- Fruits that specifically depend on honeybees for pollination include apples, avocados, blueberries, and cranberries. -- According to a Cornell study, the estimated value of honeybee pollination to U.S. Agriculture is $14.6 billon.

Golden Heritage Foods, LLC packages millions of pounds of honey at its plants in Kansas and Ohio, and distributes it nationwide under various brand names.
