Aflac Duck Helps Keep Policyholders in the Race

Aflac Duck Helps Keep Policyholders in the Race

Aflac Drives Home NASCAR Sponsorship with its new Commercial Featuring Carl Edwards

COLUMBUS, Ga., March 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Aflac will launch its latest Aflac Duck television commercial featuring NASCAR driver Carl Edwards in a spot called "Feathers," set to air nationwide during the March 9th Kobalt Tools 500 race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The 30-second spot opens on Edwards talking via radio with his crew chief, Bob Osborne, who comments that the other racers think Edwards has an advantage because of his Aflac sponsorship. Edwards then turns his head and says, "Well if you're ever sick and can't work, Aflac pays cash fast to help keep you in the race, right?" It's then revealed that the Aflac Duck is actually driving the car. The car speeds around the racetrack so quickly that the Aflac Duck's feathers are streaming out of both sides of the car and flying into the faces of the other competitors, causing them to skew off the track.

"We're educating consumers on how Aflac is essential because we pay cash benefits to policyholders quickly to help them pay their bills," said Paul Amos II, president and chief operating officer, Aflac U.S.

Aflac is the primary sponsor of Edwards and the No. 99 Ford Fusion for eight NASCAR races and the associate sponsor for the remaining 28. Aflac is the official supplemental insurance partner of NASCAR. This commercial marks the first time Aflac has incorporated its sponsorship of NASCAR, which began in 2007, into its popular Aflac Duck campaign. The spot illustrates in a humorous way how quickly Aflac, the number one provider of guaranteed- renewable insurance in the United States, pays claims.

Edwards has become known as one NASCAR's most voracious competitors, moving his way up from the Craftsman Truck Series to NASCAR's elite Sprint Cup series and winning a Busch Series Championship. In his career, Edwards has accumulated two NASCAR-sanctioned track championships, three Rookie of the Year honors, and 79 feature wins while racing on both dirt and pavement tracks.

"Feathers" is the 34th installment in the Aflac commercial series produced by The Kaplan Thaler Group. Beginning on March 10, 2008, the spot will run on major networks and cable channels such as ABC, CBS, NBC, A&E, CNBC and Discovery. The spot, racing wallpaper and a ring tone are available on the new and improved aflacracing.com.
