Yankee Candle's Clean Cotton Fragrance Voted by Fans as the Scent that Best Describes Country Star Carrie Underwood

SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Everyone knows Country Music is America's favorite style of music, and everyone also knows that Yankee Candle is America's #1 Candle Brand.

So, the folks at Yankee Candle thought it would be fun to provide fans with the chance to vote on the Yankee Candle scents they think most remind them of some of today's most popular country music artists. More than 500 fans volunteered to match Yankee Candle's world famous fragrances with this year's hottest stars.

The concept of pairing a person or a room or a place with a specific fragrance is linked to a hot new trend in decorating known as "Scent-mosphere(TM)". Yankee Candle, the company who identified and led this hot trend, defines the concept of "Scent-mosphere" as the ability of a fragrance to transform any room into a place that's more welcoming, more comfortable, more exciting, more ... whatever you want it to be.

The foundation of the Scent-mosphere concept is that anything - a room, a feeling, an experience, or even a person - can be captured through scent. And that this scent is a direct reflection on an individual's 'per-scent-ality'. For example - Yankee Candle's Gingerbread fragrance might be the perfect match for your sister's home, while Vanilla Caramel is better-suited for your friend's house. Scent-mosphere is more than just the feel of a room; it actually can capture the essence of a person.

"Once you've learned about Yankee Candle's Scent-mosphere, it's an easy concept to integrate into your own home," said Rick Ruffolo, Yankee Candle's Senior Vice President of Brand, Marketing and Innovation and its Chief Scent Officer. "Besides encouraging people to try this concept at home -- we thought this survey would be a fun way for fans to combine their 'passion for fragrance' with their passion for country music. I think you'll find the results to be quite interesting."

So - on to the survey. It was a lot of fun, and here are the results from some of today's top country music stars:

Respondents thought Alison Kraus' distinctive voice and music were the perfect fit with Yankee Candle's Fresh Cut Roses fragrance.

Fans saw Texas-native Miranda Lambert not as her hit song "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," but as Yankee Candle's Red Apple Wreath.

We think her fresh, young look made Carrie Underwood a natural choice for Yankee Candle's top-selling Clean Cotton.

Martina McBride's feminine appeal and sweetness split the vote as Americans found both Yankee Candle's Lilac Blossoms and Vanilla Cupcake scents as appropriate.

Her girl-next-door appeal with just a little bit of sass is one of the many reasons Americans love Reba McEntire pairing her with Yankee Candle's Spiced Pumpkin fragrance.

With his recent "The Flip Flop Summer Tour," it's no wonder that respondents picked Yankee Candle's Sun & Sand as the perfect match for Kenny Chesney.

Brad Paisley's approachability and down-to-earth nature made Yankee Candle's Autumn Woods an easy choice for fans.

His masculinity, strong deep voice, and industry staying-power have made George Strait a favorite for years. It's natural, then, that the hearty scent of Yankee Candle's legendary new World Fragrance ... Siberian Silver Fir ... was America's choice for this country music legend.

Josh Turner's deep, sexy, smooth voice reminded respondents of Yankee Candle's Midsummer's Night scent.

Keith Urban's rugged good-looks and his heartfelt lyrics caused fans to favor Yankee Candle's Sparkling Cinnamon.
