!DIEGA! Exclusive Screening at Anthology Film Archives November 14

NEW YORK, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Pericles Motion Pictures announced the New York premiere of !DIEGA! a new film written and directed by James Aviles Martin. Screening at Anthology Film Archives, November 14th; 9:30pm. !DIEGA!, based on Alcestis by Euripides, is a tale of love and death set in the Latino community of Corona, Queens. The film features veteran actors Jaime Sanchez, Santos, Johnny Santiago and Yvonne Delano as Diega.

!DIEGA! reunites Martin with producers Miljan Peter Ilich and Vincent Niemann.

!DIEGA! is about the virginal young daughter of nightclub owner Guillermo Diego who's in love with the club's bartender, Aurelio. When Aurelio willfully ignores her advances, Diega, in an attempt to make him jealous, flirts with his best friend, Hector, the club's bouncer. Hector misunderstands Diega's intentions and falls in love with her.

A rift between the two friends begins when Aurelio tries to explain Diega's real intentions to Hector. Guillermo, an overly protective father, fires Aurelio. Now jobless, with his best friend turned against him, Aurelio seeks revenge and decides to rob Diega of her virginity.

Corona becomes the amphitheater for drama, comedy, and tragedy- with dancing ancestors and several visits from Death. But when Death comes to Corona, will love conquer it?

Autuer James Aviles Martin produced and directed the documentary ArtWatch. While in film school, he wrote and directed his first feature film, the cult classic Flesh Eating Mothers which was subsequently accepted into the Boston, Chicago and Toronto Film Festivals. A worldwide release followed. His earlier film, I Was A Teenage Zombie, has recently been re-released.

Producers Ilich and Niemann also worked with Martin on ArtWatch. !DIEGA! marks Ilich's third collaboration with Martin.

Jaime Sanchez who plays Guillermo Diego in !DIEGA! is known for his remarkable performance opposite Rod Steiger in Sydney Lumet's The Pawnbroker and in Peckinpah's The Wild Bunch. His credits also include Serpico and Carlito's Way. The other familiar cast members are Santos, featured in The Sopranos and opposite Uma Thurman in My Super Ex-Girlfriend; Yvonne Delano who played the lead role in Andy Diaz's Harlem Blues; and actor/musician, Johnny Santiago.
