PHOENIX, Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- A star-studded musical tribute to America's military members, their families and veterans will be available beginning Nov. 21, courtesy of Grammy-Nominated artist John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting, America Supports You, TriWest Healthcare Alliance and many other partners.
Ondrasik will announce details of the CD "For the Troops" at 4 p.m. on Nov. 16 at the Tropics Community Activity Center at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. The press conference is prior to his concert, which begins at the Tropics at 7 p.m.
The CD "For the Troops," featuring 13 songs from today's most-recognized musicians and artists, will be available at www.aafes.com and www.cdforthetroops.com. TriWest also is providing 200,000 copies of the CD to be distributed at Ondrasik's USO co-sponsored concert series and military bases in TriWest's 21-state region of western states, Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as many other outlets.
"Music can be a powerful tool in lifting the morale and spirit of our military members and their families," said TriWest President and CEO David J. McIntyre, Jr. "This CD is filled with songs of hope and inspiration to those who sacrifice so much to secure our freedoms. It is a tribute to America's military and their families for all that they do."
The "For the Troops" CD is the idea of Ondrasik who was inspired by the men and women of the U.S. military. Ondrasik collaborated with TriWest Healthcare Alliance, America Supports You, the Recording Industry Association of America, America Armed Forces Exchange Services (AAEFS), Sony, Media Productions to produce and distribute the CD.
"I'd like to thank the artists, labels, and publishers who have joined me in saluting our troops and their families with music," Ondrasik said. "I'm hoping in this compilation you find a song that inspires, motivates, provides an avenue for reflection or simply distracts you from a mission few can imagine much less undertake. Your sacrifice secures our liberty and that of our children. If anything, let each tune be a small piece of home to carry you forward. From the Ondrasik family to you and yours, we thank you and we love you."
The complete track list includes: * Billy Joel - Scenes from an Italian Restaurant * Brooks & Dunn - Keep on Swingin' * Five for Fighting - 100 Years * The Fray - How to Save a Life (acoustic) * Gary Sinise and the Lt.
