MommyMixer Launches New Service Targeting Parents With Itty Bitty Newborns

Plus New Holiday MommyMixers Deliver Extra Helping Hands for Families in Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Seattle and Atlanta

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- What: MommyMixer is expanding its services with specialized events that connect new parents to babysitters with a knack for newborns. The babysitter networking event brings expecting moms and dads face-to-face with a room full of experienced sitters from local colleges who are eager to help in those first few precious months. The first New Mommy MommyMixer will be held in Austin, with future events to be held nationwide. The event, lasting about an hour and half, will allow each sitter to introduce herself, her qualifications and her availability. Then each parent describes what they need in a sitter. After some extra time to chat one-on-one with the girls, moms and dads walk away confident that they have found a handful of sitters that are an ideal fit for their families. In addition, they get the coveted Babysitter Book, filled with the resumes of all the sitters that attended the event. Who: Mary Sullivan Cooper, CEO and Chief Founding Mama of MommyMixer will be kicking-off this mixer on Thursday and will be available for interviews before or after the mixer. The event will also feature guest speaker Gena Overby, RN, who has years of experience in NICU. Gena will give our new parents the advice they need to calm their nerves and get through those first precious months smoothly. Where: Baby Coco, located at 1515-B West 35th Street, Austin, TX When: November 29, 2007, at 6:30 pm Why: New parents fret over every detail when it comes to getting ready for baby. Whether they're searching for that perfect shade of paint for the nursery or making sure their bags are packed and ready to go to the hospital, no preparation is too small. So why do so many new parents find themselves scrambling to find a babysitter when they can have a list ready before the baby is even born? Being a new parent can be an amazing, but challenging experience, and MommyMixer wants to help these moms and dads find the help they need from reliable sitters who are eager to look over the little ones. By recruiting girls from nursing schools and hospitals, they have ensured that the sitters are qualified to handle such a precious package. So, whether it's date night or just time to take a nap, mom and dad can have the extra hands they need to get through those first few months and beyond. MommyMixer will also host special Holiday Mixers to help parents get through the busiest season of the year. With last minute shopping errands, company parties and visits from the in-laws, the holidays are no time to feel short-handed. MommyMixer will hold these events in Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Seattle and Atlanta, linking frazzled parents to experienced sitters who are looking for some extra holiday shopping money! "Being a new mom is a wonderful experience, and every day brings new joys and challenges," Mary Sullivan Cooper said. "As a new mom, sometimes you just don't want to put your baby down, and one of the hardest things is to trust someone else to step in for you. But, occasionally you need to step away, even if it's just to take a shower, get your hair done, or go on date-night with Dad. Especially if you already have another child, it can be so hard to find ways to divide your time. We wanted to bring these women babysitters they could trust to take care of their new loves while they run out, even if it's only for 30 minutes."

"MommyMixer is such a perfect idea," says baby expert Gena Overby. "I believe it 'takes a village' to raise children, and it is unrealistic to think parents can do it on their own right away. We all need help, we all need each other. When parents have time to take care of themselves, they are able to become better moms and dads and raise more fulfilled families. I'm a big advocate for families, and this service fits right in."
