Jack Rieley Breaks Silence on Beach Boys in Flasher.com Interview

Jack Rieley Breaks Silence on Beach Boys in Flasher.com Interview

NEW YORK, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Jack Rieley, who helped guide the Beach Boys back to critical and popular acclaim after the group hit a low ebb, has spoken publicly about that period for the first time ever. He did so in an interview with Flasher.com that began showing today, according to Oliver Roberts, general manager of the site.

Rieley said he broke his silence after seeing an early version of the documentary "Dennis Wilson Forever," produced and directed by Billy Hinsche. Rieley said "tears welled up in my eyes" as he viewed the film, which will have its world premiere on Flasher.com starting Monday. "The documentary is brilliant," Rieley declared.

Jack Rieley co-wrote songs with Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson and was responsible for the group's career direction starting with the Surfs Up album, continuing through the So Tough album, then on to the legendary Holland project and eventually for a live album.

In the interview, Rieley recounted Dennis Wilson's "warmth, passion and occasional unpredictability." He told of a Beach Boys concert at a high security California women's prison, and how Dennis was mobbed by the 'Manson girls,' imprisoned for their role in murders committed by Charles Manson and the imprisoned girls. Wilson had met them long before the murders.

Rieley also recalled staying at the home of Dennis and his wife Barbara Wilson one night. Dennis awakened Rieley during the night in a manner that was "too gentle" for the singer-musician-songwriter. Minutes later Rieley learned that his father had just died. "Dennis and Barbara stayed up with me, cared for me and were so tender," Rieley said.
