Sony Pictures Television International Announces New Format Deals for Power of 10 in Australia, Chile, France and Greece

Sony Pictures Television International Announces New Format Deals for Power of 10 in Australia, Chile, France and Greece

U.S. Version Licensed in Canada and South Korea

CULVER CITY, Calif., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) announced today that it has signed a number of format deals for the hit U.S. game show Power of 10. SPTI has reached agreements for local versions of Power of 10 with Nine Network in Australia, Chilevision in Chile, TF1 in France and Mega in Greece. The announcement was made today by Sander Schwartz, president, international production. Additionally, SPTI has sold the U.S. version of Power of 10 to Global in Canada and On Media in Korea for its On Style channel. SPTI will be selling the format as well as the U.S. version of the series to television outlets outside the U.S. during the MIPCOM 2007 market.

"Power of 10 is a rarity in television because it combines the excitement of a traditional game show and the inventive use of popular opinion to produce a show that can be easily adapted in so many countries," said Schwartz. "SPTI has a strong record of adapting formats and we're thrilled to be able to offer Power of 10 to our clients. Michael Davies has had an enviable track record in producing hit game shows and we have high expectations for Power of 10 internationally, which has already scored for CBS in the U.S."

Michael Davies, creator and executive producer, added, "Power of 10 was created from the outset with the international market in mind. It is simple, immediately engaging and about the entire nation, whether that nation is America, France, Latvia or any other country in the world that has citizens who disagree with each other. Every element of the format has been meticulously thought through and designed. We have already welcomed producers and executives from all over the world to our studios in New York and seen their powerful reactions to this format and how it is put together. We can't wait to welcome more."

"With its provocative questions, fast-paced format and high stakes payoff, Power of 10 quickly made its mark on the prime time landscape," said Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment. "The show's success is a testament to Michael Davies' skill as a game show creator and producer, and Drew Carey's engaging appeal as a host."

Created by prolific television producer Michael Davies (Who Wants to Be a Millionaire) of Embassy Row Productions, Power of 10 is a high stakes, adrenaline-filled studio-based game show in which contestants put their knowledge of public thinking and opinion to the test. Using questions based on large-scale professional polling results, Power of 10 covers all aspects of each country's thoughts on topics from politics to pop culture. Power of 10 puts contestants through the ultimate test to prove whether they have their fingers on the pulse of the nation, and in doing so gives them the chance to win a cash prize that increases by the power of 10 as the show progresses.

Each version of Power of 10 will be produced locally using surveys customized for that country. Local hosts will be announced by each broadcaster at a later time and airdates will vary from country to country. The U.S. version currently airs on Global in Canada and On Media's On Style channel in Korea will announce an airdate at a later time.

SPTI has produced over 9,000 hours of television programming in over 30 countries, with production offices in France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Miami, the People's Republic of China, Russia, Spain and the United Kingdom. The division oversees the production and distribution of such formats as the hit reality show Dragons' Den, The Dating Game, Pyramid, The Newlywed Game, You're Hired, Russian Roulette, Karaoke Showdown, Zulu Bingo, World Series of Pop Culture, Chain Reaction, Grand Slam, One Year Free and Power of 10.
