Comcast Invests More Than $600K to Give Thousands of Kids the Skills to Succeed in the Course of Life

SAN RAMON, Calif., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The Northern California Golf Association (NCGA) Foundation, dedicated to promoting life skills and values to youth, and Comcast, the nation's largest cable provider of entertainment and communications for home and small business, have teamed up to support the development of Northern California youth.

Comcast's support of the NCGA Foundation's Youth on Course program will offer more deserving Northern California youth the chance to learn to play golf while discovering key values to succeed in life.

"At Comcast, we believe that it's important to invest in our youth," stated Rick Lang, Regional Vice President, Marketing and Sales. "Through our partner NCGA, we will be giving kids the right clubs to succeed in the course of life."

Youth on Course ensures youth age 5-17 with life skills education pay an average of only $2 for a round of golf at 70 participating courses throughout the region. More importantly, the program serves as a building block for deserving youth who have participated in a First Tee or similar life skills program. Kids have the opportunity to use their life skills training on the golf course while they build a passion for the game that will hopefully last a lifetime. Children build self-esteem wile demonstrating honesty, respect, perseverance and courtesy; all characteristics inherent in golf.

About the Northern California Golf Association Foundation

The NCGA Foundation promotes life skills and values to deserving youth in Northern California through the game of golf. Additionally, the Foundation supports the growth of the game while providing youth the opportunities and motivation to become productive citizens and lifelong golfers. Over the next five years the Foundation will increase the availability and affordability of youth golf through Youth on Course, conduct free clinics and lesson programs for kids, offer college scholarships for deserving youth and create career-enhancing opportunities for adolescents within the golf industry.

This year the NCGA Foundation will subsidize approximately $100,000 in youth green fees through Youth on Course. The Foundation will also continue to award grants to youth programs in Northern California teaching important life skills and values through the game of golf. The Foundation has awarded more than $1 million since 1991, including $140,000 in 2007.
