Newsweek Hosts Third Annual 'Women and Leadership Conference'; Anna Quindlen, Cynthia Mcfadden Panel Moderators; Arianna Huffington Keynote Speaker

NEW YORK, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Newsweek's third annual "Women and Leadership Conference" will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at The American Museum of Natural History in New York. The conference is part of Newsweek's ongoing "Leadership for the 21st Century" series, this year, focusing on the powerful role of women in Hollywood and politics.
The conference consists of two panel discussions, the first moderated by Cynthia McFadden, co-anchor of ABC News "Nightline" and "Primetime Live" and the second by Anna Quindlen, best-selling author and Newsweek Contributing Editor, followed by a luncheon with keynote speaker Arianna Huffington, co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post.
Members of the first panel, who will discuss women and power in Hollywood, are: Mara Brock Akil, creator & executive producer of The CW's "Girlfriends" and "The Game;" Rachael Ray, television host and cookbook author; Kyra Sedgwick, Emmy-nominated and Golden Globe Award-winning actress; and Andrea Wong, president and chief executive officer of Lifetime Entertainment Services.
Members of the second panel will offer a behind-the-scenes look at politics and presidential elections with: Elizabeth Cheney, attorney and Middle East specialist; Ann Lewis, senior adviser for "Hillary Clinton for President"; Betsy Myers, chief operating officer for "Obama for America"; and Peggy Noonan, columnist for The Wall Street Journal and best-selling author.
The conference is linked to a women and leadership series scheduled to appear in the October 15 issue of Newsweek (on newsstands Monday, October 8). The first panel will begin at 9:45 a.m., the second at 11:15 a.m. followed by a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. It will be held at the American Museum of Natural History, Central Park West at 79th Street, New York.
