TV Star David Gest Today Received Prestigious Loaded Magazine's LAFTAS Award for 'Funniest Reality TV Person' for his Appearance on 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!'

LONDON, October 4/PRNewswire/ -- David Gest today received the Loaded magazine's LAFTAS award for the 'Funniest Reality TV Person', solely voted for by the great British public and readers of the magazine. Gest, who fought off stiff competition from Big Brother's Brian Belo, Peter Andre and Janet Street-Porter, personally accepted the award at the star- studded ceremony in London this afternoon.

Ever since his appearance on 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!' the great British public have quite literally taken him to their hearts. The bushtucker trials that Gest participated in, saw him having to tackle a multitude of creepy crawlies, as well as crocodiles and other jungle fears. However, instead of flinching as these crawled amongst his head, Gest told jokes as he collected the all-important stars for food! His bizarre stories told on the show, entertained the other jungle victims and have no doubt helped him to become one of the greatest television characters and personalities of 2007

It was his appearance on the 2006 series of 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!' that brought David into national prominence and made him a superstar in his own right throughout the U.K. He is the first American to have three successful prime-time television shows in the same year, 'Grease Is The Word', 'Greased Lightnin' and 'This Is David Gest'.

ITV1's This Is David Gest was number one ratings and audience share winner for two weeks in its 10.15pm time slot. It continued to perform extremely well and was number two in the ratings for three weeks - a further incredible feat since BBC1 put him against their big sporting events after the success of the first two shows. Heat magazine called it 'The best celebrity reality TV show since The Osbournes'

In February next year, Gest will embark on his 42 day UK Tour, which will see him perform live onstage together with special guests (to be announced).

The tour will begin on the 21st February in London and continue through to March. Gest will be touring with his own band as well as all the characters from David's fabulous stories in the jungle, including the Chinese Girls with Herpes, The Little People of DavidLand, The Albino Heights Hotel Staff and his maid Vaginica Seamen. Ten Legendary stars will also with Gest. Tickets will go on sale in two weeks. Gest is the first reality TV star to earn over five million dollars in the last year from all his successful projects. His autobiography is being released in paperback today.
