Debut Broadcasting Launches Hands-Free Digital Delivery System
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Debut Broadcasting Corporation, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: DBTB) announced today the roll-out schedule of its new Hands-Free Digital Delivery System. This initiative is a critical component of the company's business model. It allows content to move from the company's production facilities, over the Internet, into computers at radio station affiliates, and then be added to the radio stations' broadcasts with no human intervention along the way. It also makes it possible to exploit a key synergy between the company's radio station operations and its radio syndication unit, Impact Radio Networks.
"The technology behind the Hands-Free Digital Delivery System makes it possible for us to deliver fully-customized content to our radio stations much more cost-efficiently. We can now lower costs without sacrificing the quality of our broadcasts," said John Patrick, the company's VP/Radio Operations. "In fact, we are able to increase quality by creating a large-market sound with a small-market budget. It helps us do a better job for our listeners and our advertisers."
This same technology also benefits the company's radio syndication unit, Impact Radio Networks, by lowering delivery costs to over 1,000 radio station affiliates nationwide. "We anticipate as much as a 5% overall reduction in costs by the end of 2007 and even more by the end of 2008," said Jason Turner, the General Manager of Impact Radio Networks. And the benefits reach far beyond cost reduction. "As most radio stations continue to reduce staffing, the Hands-Free Digital Delivery System gives us a competitive edge by making our content easier and less labor-intensive to get on the air."
The new technology has just completed testing at the company's radio stations in Mississippi, and will now be put in place as additional radio acquisitions are made. Field testing with syndication customers is scheduled to conclude in early November. Roll-out to existing customers will begin in mid-November.
The company recently named Mike Michonski, formerly with Clear Channel, to the newly-created post of Digital Fulfillment Manager. In that role, Michonski has overseen field testing and will manage the roll-out of the technology to customers this fall.
Steven Ludwig, CEO of Debut Broadcasting, reflected on the announcement. "Our company has been committed to finding solutions for the new realities in Radio. The Hands-Free Digital Delivery initiative not only saves cost in the future, it adds a new competitive dimension to our syndication operation. It also demonstrates clearly how the two major parts of our business - radio station operations and national radio syndication - can work together to create tangible synergies. The radio stations are proving to be a great laboratory that incubates creative new solutions we can exploit through syndication - two new product ideas have already been spawned out of the Hands-Free Digital Delivery initiative. And our syndication content makes radio operations and more cost-efficient."
