Cris Carter to Head Coach 'Team East'
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., Oct. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The Offense-Defense All- American Bowl, showcasing the best high school football players in the nation, has announced today that Cris Carter, eight-time NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings and current host of HBO Sports "Inside the NFL", will be the Head Coach for "Team East" in the classic game scheduled for January 4, 2008, in Miami, Florida.
"We could not be happier with Cris' acceptance of our invitation to be our Team East Head Coach," said Matt Whittier, Executive Director of the Offense- Defense All American Bowl. "His talent, ability, enthusiasm for high school football, and dedication to the children of our communities will bring a new high to our game."
Offense-Defense Sports has selected the very best high school senior football players to compete in this week-long event complete with a high school football combine, charity events, and great football, and will be shown live on Fox Sports.

Cris Carter began his NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles. He went on to a stellar NFL career spanning 15 years including 12 with the Minnesota Vikings. Coupling stunning athletic ability with durability, Cris played a full 16 game slate for 13 seasons and appeared in eight consecutive Pro Bowls. In 1999 he became only the second player in NFL history to catch 1,000 passes, putting him into the history books alongside Jerry Rice. Cris ranks second on the NFL's all-time list for total receptions (1,101) and receiving touchdowns (130). He received the NFL Man of the Year award in 1999.
In addition to his on field accomplishments, Cris has been an active member of the community. Some of his off the field accomplishments include The Carter-White Charitable Foundation for underprivileged children. He created the Vikings Super Challenge, which challenges students to stay in school and away from drugs. He also created the Cris Carter academic Honor Roll Program that recognizes high school athletes that excel on the field and in the classroom.
