Momentum Continues for Award-Winning OIL ON ICE With Screening at Prestigious Film Festival

Neil Young Says Documentary 'Gives Us Hope and a Reason to Believe that We Can Make a Difference'

WOODSIDE, Calif., Oct. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Documentary Association will screen OIL ON ICE as part of its Pare Lorentz Film Festival, which takes place in Los Angeles, October 18-21. An unprecedented ten years' of Pare Lorentz Award winners, including Al Gore's AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, will be screened together at the festival. OIL ON ICE was selected for the esteemed award for best representing the democratic sensibility, activist spirit and lyrical vision of legendary documentarian Pare Lorentz. The film continues to serve as a key tool in grassroots efforts to address climate change, energy policy and the global quest for clean renewable energy sources.

OIL ON ICE takes the viewer on a visually stunning journey to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (which is often the symbolic center of the nation's energy debate) to explore the connections between oil, the environment and America's energy future. The audience gets a glimpse into the struggles of indigenous cultures as Gwich'in Indians and Inupiat Eskimos are followed to Washington, DC to fight the oil interests that threaten their land and way of life.

The recipient of multiple film festival awards, OIL ON ICE has been broadcast on public television across the country and used as the primary media tool at thousands of house parties and university events to encourage action to protect the environment. Currently, OIL ON ICE is touring the nation as part of the Sierra Club Energy Film Festival.

"OIL ON ICE is the definitive documentary about the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge," said renowned musician Neil Young. "It gives us hope, and a reason to believe that we can make a difference."
