Artists Broadcast Exclusive CMJ Event Footage on Friendster Fan Profiles in Conjunction With AmieStreet.com

Artists Broadcast Exclusive CMJ Event Footage on Friendster Fan Profiles in Conjunction With AmieStreet.com

NEW YORK, Oct. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Friendster announced today that it's working with AmieStreet.com to bring music fans live footage from the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City. During the weeklong music festival, over two dozen AmieStreet.com artists will have their concerts streamed live on their Friendster Fan Profiles.

This collaboration offers music fans across the world unparalleled access to the CMJ Music Marathon and its artists, from streaming the concert in real time to directly downloading the artists' music. The streaming videos, powered by Xanga TV, will be available in each artist's media box on their Fan Profile. Fans will be able to buy and download the artists' music via AmieStreet.com's portable store or from the site itself.

"While CMJ invites some of the most talented new artists to perform in New York, unfortunately there are only so many fans that can make it to see the shows," said AmieStreet.com co-founder Joshua Boltuch. "This partnership is an awesome way to bring these live performances directly to the millions of people from around the globe craving the best new music."

Examples of artists participating in the CMJ promotion include Datarock (http://www.friendster.com/datarock), Anathallo (http://www.friendster.com/anathallo), Eli "Paperboy" Reed and The True Loves (http://www.friendster.com/elipaperboyreed) and Samantha James (http://www.friendster.com/samanthajames). All of the live performances can be seen on the Amie Street Fan Profile (http://www.friendster.com/amiestreet).

Each participating artist maintains a Fan Profile on Friendster that allows fans to connect to them and get notified when new content is posted to the profile. Artists can embed video in their Fan Profiles and Friendster will automatically notify fans with homepage updates or via an opt-in e-mail notice when such additions are made to an artist's Fan Profile.

"This is another great example of how artists are utilizing Fan Profiles to quickly get new content to fans and give them direct access to purchase music," said Jeff Roberto, marketing director at Friendster. "Friendster has built a complete promotional engine that allows artists to quickly and easily post content and immediately notify their fans. Artists can embed video, audio, widgets and links to places they sell content or merchandise online," he said.

To bring together this promotion, both Friendster and Amie Street are working with Buddylube (http://www.buddylube.com/), a Brooklyn-based company that is leading the industry in Web 2.0 marketing by linking cutting-edge social networking technologies with today's top artists.

About AmieStreet.com

AmieStreet.com is an online music destination that is changing the way people discover and buy music. Founded in the Spring of 2006 by three Brown University seniors, AmieStreet.com is the only site where members of its community determine the price of songs, which start out free and rise in price the more they are purchased. The site also rewards its members with downloads when they recognize and recommend tracks that rise in price, giving users an incentive to find and recommend good music first. Headquartered in New York City, AmieStreet.com just announced in August its Series A round of financing led by Amazon.com.
