Andre Agassi and All-Star Line-up Help Raise More than $9 Million for Children at 12th Celebrity Gala Concert Benefit at MGM Grand

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Grand Slam for Children benefit concert presented by Genworth Financial came up aces tonight as a star-studded line-up came together at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in an event to benefit the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation (AACF). The AACF raised more than $8.1 million from ticket sales and auction items. Charles Heers, owner of Tuscany Suites & Casino in Las Vegas, pledged an additional $1 million bringing the total to $9.1 million.

More than 8,200 fans and VIP guests packed the Arena to see performances by Tony Bennett, Kelly Clarkson, MATCHBOX TWENTY, Carlos Santana, George Wallace and a special performance by Jerry Seinfeld. Fans also were treated with surprise appearances by the Goo Goo Dolls and Hall & Oates. Santana and MATCHBOX TWENTY's Rob Thomas closed the evening with their multi-Grammy Award- winning hit "Smooth." Grammy Award-winning producer, arranger and composer David Foster served as musical director for the 12th year.

"I am grateful that there are so many people dedicated to helping kids," Agassi said. "I'm thrilled with the turnout from the public, the generosity of our sponsors, donors and bidders, and the commitment and talent of the performers who so graciously give their time to the Grand Slam. It was one of the greatest nights of the year."

The VIP sponsors attended a pre-concert reception and dinner followed by a live auction. The exclusive items included a Porsche Cayenne from the Sopranos signed by James Gandolfini and Edie Falco; Robin Williams' movie premiere and after-party; a Dale Chihuly chandelier; an in-home food and wine pairing for 12 with Emeril Lagasse; a special Victoria's Secret fashion show, concert and trip; an evening at a Six Flags park for 500 friends; a Malibu beach adventure and Kreiss backyard furniture; and a state-of-the-art Dellacasa kitchen, Paula Deen cooking lessons and a trip to Sicily, Italy. Other vacation packages included a Costa Rican getaway with private tennis lessons from Agassi and Stefanie Graf, adventures in South Africa and British Columbia; and a Geneva, Switzerland trip to the House of Harry Winston, along with a custom designed Harry Winston watch. Additionally, the 2007 Grand Slam commemorative artwork, "What the Heart Hears," by Paul Goodnight, was auctioned.

Selling for $250,000, the Mercato del Pesce di Rialto Chandelier sculpted by renowned artist Dale Chihuly garnered the highest bid during the live auction. The chandelier was developed by Chihuly during two years of work in Finland, Ireland and Mexico and concluding in Italy, where the chandelier was then suspended over the canals and piazzas of Venice. The historical piece is six feet wide and six feet tall and is composed of approximately 126 glass elements.

The Grand Slam for Children concert fundraiser benefits the AACF, a not- for-profit foundation established by Andre Agassi in 1994 to assist at-risk youth in Las Vegas, where Agassi was raised.
